Alex

I am a mathematician, musician and sportsman from Dunfermline in Fife, currently in my second year studying at Cambridge. My main area of interest is in quantum mechanics and its applications, but I am also keen on many otherĀ areas of applied mathematics, such as fluid dynamics and cosmology. I am also Organ Scholar at St Catharine’s College which means I am involved in the training of the girls’ choir at St Catharine’s (ages 8-15) and the organisation and running of the chapel choir, as well as being a regular performer in many college music events. Through my time at Cambridge I have enjoyed balancing as much music and sport as possible with my degree, and have played cricket for the university, and squash, rugby and hockey for the college. I am also a keen crossword solver and Gaelic language and culture enthusiast, and am a committee member of the Scottish Society in Cambridge.
