Who we are
CAMScot is a voluntary organisation working to improve Scottish school students’ access to the best university opportunities, particularly those at the University of Cambridge.
CAMScot is committed to protecting the personal data of all involved with the association in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
What data do we collect?
We collect contact details including names and email addresses. In addition, from our volunteers we ask for personal data relating to academic and work experience. From school students we also ask for information about school, date of birth and subject interest.
Volunteers engaged in one-to-one mentoring require PVG enrolment for which we require photo ID and address confirmation. (See also our Safeguarding Policy).
In the course of mentoring and interview coaching school students and volunteers may share personal statements, reading lists and other material relevant to the university application process.
How do we use your data?
We use the data to connect school students with volunteers who provide advice and support including briefings, mentoring and interview coaching. All these activities are delivered on-line. Connection is indirect via a Google Sheets intermediary.
Anonymised, aggregated data is used to track and evaluate the effectiveness of CAMScot activities.
Data retention:
We retain volunteer data until the volunteer advises us that they wish to cancel their registration.
We retain school student data for three years from registration.
You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information and you have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate by contacting the CAMScot Co-ordinator at pkr1@cantab.net.
Data security:
We keep your information on Excel spreadsheets and Google Sheets in password protected files held by the CAMScot Co-ordinator on PC and Cloud.
Sharing your data:
We share individual data amongst volunteers on a strictly need to know basis subject to our Safeguarding Policy. We do not share your information with any other third party organisation.
Only the CAMScot Co-ordinator has access to all data. Personal details of school students are not shared with mentors or interviewers beyond first names and subject interests.
Anonymised, aggregated data is used to track and evaluate the effectiveness of CAMScot activities.
